Reference: Tools-Acrobat Reader

The creation of documents, pages, etc. that conform to very precise layout requirements for printing on paper is not one of the strong points here on the World Wide Web. The Browsers do a reasonable job of printing a copy of a web page as long as there aren't too many graphics, the information isn't too wide, and, most of all, it all fits on one page (piece of paper).

However, there are times that a specific function may require the generation of some sort of paper based result. For this, we DO recommend the publishing of information in Adobe's Acrobat Reader format. Of course, the use of Acrobat requires that the document and it's content exists prior to document generation. As our specialty on the web is "interactive" sites that are based upon dynamic database concepts, it's not all that unusual for a desire to produce a PDF document utilizing bits of information obtained from a Browser form or from a database.

Thanks to the folks at FPDF, we can offer RidgesStar clients the general ability to dynamically create PDF documents. To demonstrate this, go ahead and enter a small bit of your own text information below and click "CreatePDF" to receive a dynamically created PDF document:

Note: This mechanism is quite powerful, but IT IS NOT the full function Acrobat program. This means that there are functions and features associated with Adobe's Acrobat that make it quite valuable and, in certain circumstances, mandatory. However, the FPDF provided mechanism can, in many circumstances, be used quite effectively to dynamically produce PDF documents.

Of course, in order for your desktop to display the resulting file properly, you'll have to have a suitable Acrobat Reader function active and/or installed.
