To demonstrate an outlined Site structure, we've built a template for a conceptual business named GoSparkle.com, which sells handcrafted silver jewelry: I. Welcome to GoSparkle.com (Home page)The home page should contain an index of all of the main topic categories, plus a brief introduction to the Site. (The main topics for this Site would be: "What's New!", "Artist Profiles", "Jewelry Shopping", "Caring for Silver", etc.)
To make your own outline, first decide on the main Site segments - your information groupings should provide an idea of what they should be. As you go into deeper detail on a segment, indent each level. After outlining, review it to make sure that each topic is in the appropriate segment. For example, if a particular segment contains more levels than the other sections, you may want to consider breaking it up into more categories. We suggest providing basic categories such as "What's New", "Products", "Services", and "About us", which are noted in parenthesis in the template. Overall however, just make sure to organize the information according to your site's purpose and audience: You can add, delete or overtype the Word template provided below with the categories and information that you would like to include on your site. | ||||||
