A Cookie is a small bit of information that a Web server (i.e. like the Site you are using) temporarily stores with your Web browser on your system. A cookie file cannot find out everything about you or what is stored on your hard drive. The only way a cookie file can get private information is if you personally give the information to the Website. Cookies can not transmit viruses either. Altogether, they are both harmless and helpful.
